College Magazine Questionnaire Analysis

From the results of the questionnaire, I can clearly see that the college magazine in its current state is not very popular at all, with only 5% of people asked saying they have ever read it. This shows there is obviously a fault with advertising and marketing and this needs to be addressed. The results also show us that 75% of people asked said they are unwilling to pay for the magazine. This could also be down to advertising, but may be linked to the content as well which is a big problem. However the 25% of people who did say they were willing to pay said they found 50p to be a reasonable price. It’s not a huge amount but if everyone bought the magazine it could really help. We also asked people what they would most like to see in the magazine a nd the top 3 ideas were; upcoming events, facebook updates and music events and cinema information and reviews. This information could be very useful when trying to improve the content and make it more appealing. Other things such as Sudoku’s and the history of the college also stirred some interest among the people surveyed. It’s really important we try and reach out to all students and appeal to them as they’re the ones who inevitably will be paying for the magazine. Another thing the survey touched upon was what would draw the student’s eye to the magazine and appeal to them more. This showed that people think the magazine needs more colour and images to liven it up, and make it more attractive. Another point was that people didn’t think the magazine was necessary more than once a month and this is probably a good idea as in a small college community there’s not enough news or information to fill a weekly magazine. I this information is very important, and that all of it should be taken into account as its primary research and this is what the readers want.
